Shades of Gog and Magog

gog-and-magog_lion-defends.jpgThe Bible speaks of a global war at the End of Time. It says that the king of the north (Russia) will form a military alliance with Persia (Iran), Cush (Sudan), Put (Libya and Algeria), Gomer (Turkey), and Beth Togormah (Turkish speaking nations in Central Asia).

Russia and Iran – historic enemies, are operating together. This coalition will have profound consequences for the region, and one that poses grave danger to the security of Israel. #itisnowinplace.

Joel Rosenberg, best selling author, many times over, asks “Are recent events setting the stage for the fulfillment of what Bible scholars call the ‘War of Gog and Magog’ that is supposed to take place at the End of Days?  According to scripture, the geopolitical nation state of Israel has dramatically been reborn in our lifetime. Jewish people are returning to live and work in the Holy Land after centuries of exile. So given the fact that Ezekiel 36 and 37 (the “regathering”) have largely come true, we must ask ourselves: Isn’t it remotely possible that the prophecies of Ezekiel 38 and 39 (the “War of Gog and Magog”) could soon come to pass, as well?” GOOD QUESTION.

Recent Headlines

“Israel Makes Massive Discovery of Oil in the Golan Heights.”

Interestingly enough, a few weeks ago, Russia positioned herself in Syria allegedly to fight ISIS, which puts her ever closer to the Golan Heights, and the newly discovered vast oil field.

With the alliance now formed, what happens next? Many assume the coalition is there to wipe out the “Little Satan.” It may be that there is a dual purpose. The destruction of Israel AND a huge oil field thrown in for good measure. Just sayin’

Will the king of the north and his hordes take the bait? ANOTHER GOOD QUESTION!

On a somewhat related issue – it doesn’t sink in that someday we will die. Do we really believe it? Sorta. But death make no real sense to the human mind.

When I go to a funeral, I sometimes see a corpse. Once he/she was here and now they are not. Where are they? Somehow I intuitively know that body, or no body, they are somewhere. I can’t convince myself otherwise. My finite mind cannot wrap itself around death when it’s in my face.

When I was given by my doctor, what seemed to be a death sentence, I faced it head on. At times it seemed real, but mentally I would go back and forth. I knew death was real. Then I knew it wasn’t. I couldn’t reconcile it.

It’s comforting to think that mankind has possibly been here billions and billions of years. Closer to infinity than thousands and thousands. Closer to forever.

So it is that “time” will also end. It seems that civilization as we know it, has always been here and always will be. But it will one day come to an end. Also incomprehensible, but also true.

These seemingly unanswerable questions lend themselves to simple answers.

Will I die? Yes. (Current death rate = 100%. None of us will get out of this alive.)

Will the world come to an end? Yes

Can I prepare? Yes! (See John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”) KJV
